Questions on this work

Do we need new sensors or machines for this?

Usually not. Most factory equipment already tracks more than anyone is looking at, whether through a PLC, a basic sensor, or a machine's own built-in logging. We start by reading what is already there before recommending anything new.

How is this different from what our machines already show?

Most machines report their own status on their own small screen, one machine at a time. This puts every line in one place, so a manager sees the whole floor at once instead of walking to each machine to find out what stopped and when.

Can this connect to our existing ERP?

Yes, that is usually the point. Production numbers that stay on the factory floor cannot inform scheduling or stock decisions upstream. Feeding what the floor is actually doing into the system that plans around it is most of the value.
